Well I went out and got another one. Decided it was going to be too much to go backwards with the other one since I wouldn't be able to use much from it. Kept some stuff from it and should be able to get the new bad ass 9in done up fro what I sold it for.

Plan is to finish stripping it down, rotisserie it, get it blasted and in primer. This one is actually going to get paint. Got he color picked out and I'm trading the body work and paint for hours in a turbo kit he wants. So it shouldn't cost me too much in paint. He works where they do 10-40k paint jobs.

New setup should be 408, Glide, 80-88mm, AC, and talking with Steve Moris planning for 800-1000 on 91octane.
I really want to drive it to the track with the AC on, beat up race cars on 91 and drive it home. Hopefully somewhere in the 5's would be nice. Having to go to a 29.5x13.5 slick for this track. Guys with ladder bars going 5.60's wrecking there. So what do you guys think ? In over my head ? Between the $$ and time, this may take a while. I have lots of parts stored so at least I have things to do for a while. Hvae lots to think about like where to stick the AC, or IC for that matter. Wonder which is the bigger twist for me, the AC or paint

Still waiting to get the car blasted. But having TONS of fun with anti squat and IC theories for the rear suspension I want to build. But I'm still collecting parts while I figure it out. Have my assembled ultra case showing up any day. I can get my PG as soon as I find time to get the stupid thing shipped here.
These are the 10 way strange struts with the coil over conversion with bearings.  :2thumbs:
It's gonna have LOTS of Strange parts. Got the rims on the way to bead locking. Bought some 15x12 Street Lites with 3.5 bs. Great looking rims, pain in the ass of a company to deal with though.Ended up just getting them from summit because they refused to drop ship for me. Didn't want to pay shipping to me, then to champion.  Once I get them back, tub it to the rail and see if I can get the 13.5 wide slick to fit with the rail, or a notch. Then I found a Currie HD 9in with back brace for 200 if I can run it.Just debating that or the lighter sheetmetal versions out there. He cut it too short. If it works, put on some ends, weld on the back brace, and order the gun drilled 40 spline  :chacha:

This is the "new" shortblock. Take it apart and go through it.

Hope to make some picture worthy progress soon. Whadya think so far with the plans ?

Borrowed a dead set of M/T 325/50's for mock up. These are the new rims. 15x12 with 3.5 BS. these would fit with the new suspension and stock tubs, but not with the new slicks. So some surgery to come to fit those. These should make traction on the street semi feasible.

And the 325's compared to the 29.5x13.5
Sickening really. I should be able to keep the seat, with maybe a little clipping to the lower seat frame. But keeping the back seat is still a reality. Although kinda funny, considering I know it will never be used.  Just has to look like a street car right ?

The slicks and rims are borrowed as well. Hate to buy all this rubber and it be no good by the time I can use it. Ordering the other rims with different B/Sing once I start cutting up the car and figure the rear end width.

Got some more done today. Easy to work on a Sunday. Only got 2 phone calls ! Figured I'd cut this out now rather than wait. It was pretty greasy and lots of sound deadener and tar. Maybe it'll save me a few bucks in the long run since that stuff it time consuming to blast off. Got the cowl cleaned out. Moving along OK now. Wondering what it'll be like in 2 months. As long as good looking parts keep coming in, maybe I'll be OK.

I like the look also. The slicks will probably end up being 2 inches less on the backspace because they are like 3in wider, and I want them tucked in farther to get the car down. But those will have bead locks, so that will bring the coolness back up to par. lol

So this showed up today. Stout piece of AL tell you what. It's lighter overall than the nodular case. The 40 spline axle will be lighter than the 35 spline also because of the gun drilling. Overall I think I'll only have an extra 600 in the rear end going this way. Cheaper than deciding to do it later for sure.Way overkill. BUt you all know how it goes. It'll be 25.5 in no time, but I won't have to upgrade this. lol ! I called one guy about some strange stuff, never called me back. Wonder if he'll be sorry with all the strange parts going on this car. Still have axles, housing, back brace, and probably brakes in the rear. Dunno about those thin little things in the back. We'll have to see.

When Rich wasn't looking, I ran out to the car with the Sawz-all. Smiley

And of course you can never play with metal and not get bit. Not so bad really, bled like a mother. Piece came falling down, I stepped back, but there was juuust the tiniest piece still holding it on, and it swung around behind me.

No worries though, I had a tetanus a year ago because of this stupid thing. This one sent me in to get seen. Didn't cut me, just hit me hard enough to push through the skin. That one was deep.

Only have the coil overs and rear brakes to buy. Going Strange dbl adj, and think aerospace dual calipers. Not 100 % yet though. Motor is a good size, and the turbo size isn't ridiculous....... "might as well since we're here" are the last words here.

3.5 tubes, 1/4in thick, all chrome moly. VERY impressed with the quality of this housing. Thanks to UPS for the bent lower tab. Smiley
